My husband and I just moved into a house; new to us, not so new in most other ways. We love the creaky floors, the 1930s layout (odd as it is), the weird little den off the kitchen we have made into our bedroom (we prefer to be as close to the midnight search for snacks as possible), and—of course—the enormous, non-standard windows.
The previous owner clearly cared about ensuring the integrity of this old Brampton, ON home. The replacement windows he chose from Brock Doors and Windows are gorgeous. It’s not every day you see a home with old bones and new, quality replacement windows that match the style beautifully.
For starters, the living room has these two sets of windows which spread nearly the entire length of the house. One set is a pair of slider windows that glide beautifully in either direction. The other set is the perfect balance of an oversized picture window with two double-slider windows approximately half the size of the center picture window, flanked to the left and the right. We did our measurements—these are not standard sizes, so our assumption is that the previous owner had custom windows made to fit the original window spaces, honoring the integrity of the structure. Which, we just love.
Upon further inspection, I realized the stunning wood-like frame details are, in fact, vinyl. VINYL. This means we inherited many, many years of benefits, namely:
Throughout the rest of the house are oddly sized windows. Some are awning windows, some are single-hung, some are casement. The haphazardness of the window choices to fit the home’s quirky character is just perfect. I’m so thrilled Brock handled the replacement project here. Their team is top-notch.
